Matured first in ex-Bourbon and ex-Wine casks, this single malt draws rich layers of apricot, vanilla, zesty citrus and marzipan. But its final transformation comes from an inquisitive pursuit of a Sui Generis, ancient tree: the Madhuca or Mahura tree, sacred in the heart of the forests of India.
Born of a time-honoured copper pot still distillation techniques combined with an inquisitiveness to explore Sui Generis flavours from the wild heart of India, this single malt begins its journey in a classic bourbon cask. But it’s the final flourish - an exotic finish in ex-Madhuca or Mahura casks at South Seas, one of India’s oldest malt distilleries with over a century of distilling legacy for Madhuca spirits - that sets it apart.

The family previously owned distilleries in the princely states of Jawhar and Akkalkot in the 1920s
till India’s
Independence, when prohibition was announced which brought an abrupt end to operations.
Decades later,
after the easing of prohibition in India, the family restarted the distilling
business, reviving a legacy deeply rooted in Indian whisky craftsmanship. Quite obviously, our vast and
varied experience over the years has honed our skills and helped us
gain a profound understanding of malts and magic. With the fourth generation taking forward the legacy,
there is a renewed ambition to place Indian single malt whisky on the global stage. Given our expertise,
we are now boldly venturing into uncharted territory, creating single malt whisky from India that stands
shoulder to shoulder with the world’s finest malts.
